Chief Medical Officer


Provide senior executive leadership for MedOptions in facilitating medical staff interactions with Clinical workforce, Executive leadership and Regional leadership, with the ultimate goal of assuring effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care.  This position reports to the CEO and will require regular travel to Connecticut.


  1. Be a member of the senior management team, helping the company achieve its strategic, implementation of care and financial goals.


  1. Design effective clinical practice protocols.


  1. Set clinical strategy for company, including but not limited to, the medication management services we perform; algorithms and pathways; how company monitors the clinician for effectiveness and appropriateness.


  1. Work closely with the Chief Behavioral Health Officer and coordinate care among the disciplines.


  1. Answer questions from clinicians regarding individual clinical cases as needed.


  1. Conduct routine in-services through telephonic or web based programs.


  1. Work with Chief Talent Officer to set standards of care that the HR Talent department uses to recruit nurse practitioners and psychiatrists.


  1. Work with HR Talent department to ensure interview and selection process of new psychiatrists and nurse practitioners


  1. Develop system to include education and protocols for collaboration between psychiatrists and nurse practitioners and other mid-level providers.


  1. Work with Executive leadership team on developing clinical excellence program(s).


  1. Be available for unique client, payor or other visits and calls as needed.


  1. Be a member of the EMR committee(s) to ensure adherence to clinical initiatives.


  1. Conduct quarterly one-on-one calls with the psychiatrists in each region and be available at other times as needed.


  1. Participate in company meetings, teleconference and other events focused on educating and supporting our clinicians.


  1. Collaborate with nurse practitioners and provide clinical services as needed.


  1. Monitor effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators using data such as productivity report, new hire turnover report, budgets and other metrics.


  1. Participate in professional organizations and represent the company in a professional, competent manner in the community.


  1. Demonstrate effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination of the specific disciplinary activities and integration.



  • Medical degree from accredited university and completed psychiatry and/or neurology residency
  • Board certified as an adult psychiatrist and/or geriatric psychiatrist and/or neurologist
  • Have license(s) in at least one state MedOptions provides services which is in good standing along with required state controlled substance license(s) and DEA certificate
  • Minimum of 10 years clinical and administrative experience with a track record of increasing assumption of increased responsibilities
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Possess interpersonal/ listening skills to interact effectively with individuals of all backgrounds, experience and educational levels
  • Must be able to travel to Connecticut on a regular basis
